The iO Supervisor is the most advanced remote telemetry unit in Multitel’s  iO Platform family.. It combines the I/O flexibility and scalability of the FUSION remote telemetry unit with the secure communication capabilities of the iO Gateway in a single monitoring and control unit.

While the iO mini and iO Gateway focus on protocol conversion and smart device data aggregation, the iO Supervisor Remote Telemetry Unit adds direct sensor acquisition (analog and binary inputs), automated control outputs, and edge computing. This makes it a full remote telemetry unit (RTU), capable of replacing dedicated RTUs at sites requiring both monitoring and control, while retaining the iO Platform’s communication stack and cybersecurity framework.

The iO Supervisor is designed for retrofitting into existing FUSION and iO deployments. It shares the same rack format, the same SNMP/Modbus protocols, and the same integration path with ATLAS and FIRMSuite.

The BEST of both worlds:

The FUSION's flexibility and scalability
+
iO Gateway's communication abilities

Designed for easy retrofitting with current FUSION deployment.

The iO Supervisor includes all iO Gateway capabilities: industrial telecom-grade hardware, IP address management, LDAP centralized authentication, dual 48Vdc input power, SNMP trap enrichment, protocol conversion (Modbus RTU/TCP, MQTT, SNMP v1/v2c/v3), and HTTPS passthrough. It adds direct I/O acquisition and automated control, which the Gateway does not offer.

What the iO Supervisor adds over the iO Gateway:

Direct analog  inputs

For connecting physical sensors (temperature, voltage, current, contact closures) without an intermediate smart device.

Automated control outputs

For fan on/off, HVAC lead/lag, setpoint logic, and equipment switching.

Edge computing

For real-time data processing, lower latency, reduced bandwidth usage, and continued local operation during network outages.

BAS/BMS-level  functionality

For providing centralized monitoring, alarm management, data acquisition, and control of critical facility infrastructure

A graphical user interface (HMI)

For unified visualization of all facility systems.

Protocol Conversion

iO Supervisor enables communication between devices using different industrial and building automation protocols, allowing disparate systems to exchange data and operate within a unified monitoring and control environment.

Cybersecurity

iO Supervisor helps secure critical infrastructure through centralized access management, encrypted communications, user authentication, event logging, and secure remote access. The platform supports cybersecurity best practices aligned with the principles of IEC 62443, helping organizations strengthen the security of industrial automation and control systems through user access control, network segmentation, auditability, and the protection of operational technology (OT) assets. By providing controlled connectivity and comprehensive visibility into connected equipment, iO Supervisor helps reduce cybersecurity risks while supporting compliance with modern industrial security frameworks.

IP Address Management

iO Supervisor simplifies network management by consolidating connected devices and systems within a centralized monitoring platform, reducing the need for dedicated network resources and simplifying asset administration. By providing a centralized repository for asset inventory, connectivity status, and remote access, it improves infrastructure visibility while helping organizations streamline device management and reduce operational complexity.

Lithium Battery Integration

iO Supervisor integrates with battery management systems (BMS) using industry-standard protocols to provide centralized monitoring, alarming, and reporting for lithium battery installations. The platform delivers real-time visibility into critical battery metrics, including state of charge, state of health, runtime estimates, and environmental conditions, helping operators maximize reliability and performance. Integration with network management, DCIM, and operational platforms enables streamlined battery oversight across distributed infrastructure.

Branch Circuit Monitoring

iO Supervisor provides centralized visibility into branch-level electrical distribution, enabling operators to monitor power consumption, current, voltage, load levels, and circuit status across critical infrastructure. By delivering real-time data and configurable alarms, the platform helps identify overloaded circuits, power anomalies, equipment failures, and potential capacity constraints before they impact operations.

Environmental Control Vault

iO Supervisor monitors and manages critical environmental conditions within utility, telecom, or infrastructure vaults, including temperature, humidity, flooding, intrusion, ventilation, and other site-specific parameters to ensure safe and reliable operation.
